Meditation: Opening words revision 2008

When opening a gallery of contemporary art, it is relevant to ask: What is contemporary, or modern? What is art?

It may be a contemporary fashion in art to break away from aesthetic, ethic and compassion. But the need to overcome the limited views of our ego is timeless. The need to overcome our personal ego and pride, which separates our hearts from one another, is always modern, always actual.

What is the arrogance of power? It is for someone, for example, to feel himself to be virtuous, for holding a gun in the hand. 

Art ,  Music, politics, or beliefs that promote the arrogance and pride of power, of non spiritual values, instead of love and reason, are not creating but retarding the evolution of mankind.

Bureaucrats are supposed to be loyal to forms and formularies, as politicians must swear loyalty

to the Constitution law of their country, not to love and reason.

Religious fundamentalists and terrorists should sacrifice their love and reason to their Belief.

 

In some closed circles, modern artists are supposed to follow not love and reason,

but he whims of fashion, or they are not considered artists.

But love is none of that. So, what  is love?

 If we can clearly see that certain fashions, traditions or cultures are based on futilities,

why should we imitate them? If we clearly see that certain rules, even if in our constitutional laws,

 are in conflict with reason and love, why should we follow them?

 

if a country takes in, legalizes prostitution, as long as it is an income-bringing profession,

but denies to legalize a philosopher or an artist when his profession is not commercial,

then its reasoning is not better than that of a panderer( pooier).

 

The value of a person, of an artist, is not in his bank account.

It is true: that one knows his true friends, when one has no money.

 

One may earn money with what one does, with art or anything else.

But one cannot create beauty and peace in our lives nor in the world,

working for money alone, without the sense of ethics.

 

When people or artists, are concerned with futilities, as vanity, imago, power and money,

which are the cause of all  hypocrite relations in our society, they have forgotten

that before we are people, artists, bureaucrats, or politicians, we are humans,

and we ought to be humane and sincere,

not vain and hypocrite, in order to deserve the title to be humans.

 

Love is the value of a true person, of a true artist.

St Augustine once has said: “Love, and do what you want”.

 

Yes, love is the light of Nature: the beauty of Nature. Love and nature are our teachers.

 

For humanity to find true union and peace, we humans ought to value the sensibility

 that can treasure the beauty of Nature, as the inner beauty of the spirit, of the heart.

And today, more than ever in human history, is the need to love and care for nature on this planet,

as a way to care for all living consciousnesses.

 

What I am saying is that every one is an artist, because they must follow the inspiration of their hearts. and that no one is an artist when he does not follow this inspiration.

Our philosophy

We are touched by the beauty of nature and the nobility and purity of the mind and the the heart, the inner truth.

 on a news-paper clip on the streets in Brazil.)

 

 

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit, you who make everything clear to me,

who enlighten my path that I may reach my idea)

You who give me the divine gift of forgiving

and forgetting the evil that is done to me,

and who is with me every moment of my life,

in this brief dialogue , let me thank You

and confirm once more that I never want to part

from You,

and however great the material illusion, it will not be

the least of the wish I feel to be with You

and all my brothers, in the perpetual glory.

Thank You once more.

(The person must make this prayer during

3 consecutive days, without saying the request,

and within 3 days the grace will be attained,

however difficult it may be.

Publish (if you will) when the grace is received.)

A TRUE STORY

IN PORTUGUESE

A Lei e a Gaiola

A angústia de um passarinho querendo fugir da gaiola me tocou e agi.


Aproximei- me da gaiola.e abri sua porta.

O garoto dono da gaiola veio correndo dizendo que tinha permissão do Ibama
para prender o bichinho, e vendo que eu tentava soltar o bichinho,
meteu a mão na gaiola para pegar o pássaro .

A gaiola, feita de gravetos de madeira, se rompeu, um buraco se abriu nela.
Agarrando o passarinho, o menino gritou que eu era louca,
que a gaiola custou 30 contos, e que queria me matar.


Expliquei a ele que o bicho era inocente e ele não tinha direito de mante-lo na prisão.
Mas ele foi chamar o oficial ali ao lado.
O sargento, que na sua parede tinha um prego para gaiola de passarinho,
Disse que até me entendia, mas que eu havia agido errado.


O dano de aprisionar uma vida aquele passarinho inocente e seus filhos
e toda a geração seguinte numa prisão perpétua, era permitido por sua lei,
mas estragar o cárcere era um delito.


Lamentou-se a gaiola do menino carcereiro,
o dano material, pelo qual podia me levar a delegacia.
-Vou quebrar todas as gaiolas, respondi.


Falei com as crianças em torno, (que me a olhavam acusadoramente),
que o fato dos negros terem sido escravos nascidos em cativeiro,
não era razão para que hoje continuassem a ser escravos.


-O que é preferível, ter uma chance de viver em liberdade
ou a certeza de morrer no cativeiro?


Ressarci os 30 reais à mãe do menino dizendo a ela que não comprasse outra gaiola.


Ela admitiu que não gostava de prender passarinho, mas o bichinho morreria se soltar.


(Escravo solto não pode aprender a sobreviver na liberdade?)




Argumentei que podemos oferecer água, banho e comida para os passarinhos, e eles virão por conta própria, fazer ninho e cantar na nossa janela.


Pode se dar uma casa, até uma mansão para o passarinho, mas sem trancar a porta.


Nada mais injusto, egoísta, supérfluo e degenerado do que prender um passarinho,
que nunca fez mal a ninguém.


Diante da mãe do menino discuti com o sargento:


-Você esta errada, me disse o sargento.


-Não. Eu sigo o meu coração, você a pobre lei dos homens.
E a lei que tem que mudar.


-Êle gosta do passarinho, justificaram.


Muito bem, digam a êle então, que porque você gosta dêle,
voce vai colocá-lo numa prisão.
